Charpy impact pendulum test at ambient temperature (ASTM medium energy)
Presentation for participants
|Reference of the ILC:||CY20ASTM|
|References of test methods:||ASTM E23 ASTM A370|
|Opening date of registrations||Registration deadline||Date of shipment of samples||Start of the tests||Deadline for carrying out the tests and providing the results||Date of delivery of reports|
|Note: After the deadline, registrations are only accepted within the limit of availability of samples|
|Main characteristics:||KV8 (Absorbed energy), LE (Lateral expansion)|
|Other characteristics:||KU8 (Absorbed energie), SFA (Fracture appearance)|
|Caution: The number of determinations may be low for the secundary characteristics, what may make inefficient the comparison between laboratories|
|Determination of the assigned values (“true values” for each characteristic):||By statistical computation of the totality of the results with possible selection on competence criteria (accreditation, validation by a reference body, quantity of tests performed in the year), test to detect possible collusion, merging of results not obtained in reproductibility conditions, suppression of technically unvalid results.|
|Type of statistical computation:||For numerical results, the statistical computation will provide an assigned value with its attached uncertainty, values of standard deviations for repeatability and reproductibility, limits of alerts for bias and repeatability of the participant, indiviual values for uncertainty of results of participants.|
|Number of products submitted to tests:||1|
|Number of samples per participation:||3|
|Max number of operators per participation:||1 (it is necessary to order as many participations as there are participating test operators)|
|Product submitted to tests:||Non alloyed steel|
|Type of samples:||Parrallelepipeds|
|Approximate dimensions of samples:||120x15x15 mm|
|Specific preparation to be performed by the participant:||Machining of test specimens (2 test pieces per supplied sample)|
|Special notice for this ILC:||Target energy range: 25-100 J. The participating laboratory determines the energy values (KV8 or KU8) which it wishes among the proposed ones. The participant must choose only one type of energy U2, U8, V2 or V8 as described on the reference standard, according to its habits, and apply it in the same way one each of the samples it receives.
A participant who would wish to determine several types of absorbed energy must register as many participations as the number of types of energy it wishes to determine.
The results of the participants who did not fulfil this requirement will not be taken into account in the data processing (because the number of values for each type of values is then not large enough).
